With his new Gundam, Io became a terror on the battlefield, slaying several Zeon Mobile Suits, and starting a rivalry with the ace pilot Daryl Lorenz. He returned home to a hero's welcome with his captured prize, and was awarded with the Federation's newest war machine: The Full Armor Gundam. Though Io's Mobile Suit was damaged, he survived unharmed, and even hijacked an enemy Rick Dom. On their first launch, Io's team was sent on a recon mission that went horribly wrong when most of them were shot down by Zaku snipers. Their goal was to avenge their lost homeland against the Zeons who destroyed it. Upon graduating, they were soon assigned to the Moore Brotherhood, a militia comprised of fellow survivors of the Moore Colony Invasion.ĭuring the closing months of the war, the Brotherhood was deployed to the floating ruins of Side 4, nicknamed the 'Thunderbolt Sector' for its frequent discharges of electricity. He, Claudia, and Cornelius survived their home's destruction, and later enlisted into the Earth Federation Space Forces. Io witnessed his father commit suicide during the invasion, and grew an intense hate for Zeon as a result. The Moore colony was caught in the flames of war by a surprise Zeon attack. However, their dreams came to a halt in the year UC 0079, when the Principality of Zeon launched a terrifying war of independence against the Earth Federation.

Io and his team seemed destined for a life of fame and victory. Thanks to Cornelius's mechanic skills, Claudia's keen tactics, and Io's flying talent, their team won every race in a landslide and became champions. As they matured, the three of them formed an airplane racing team with Io himself as the pilot. He also shared a deep friendship with Claudia Peer and Cornelius KaKa, who shared similar interests. As a teen, he grew a deep love for free-form jazz to match his rebellious nature. Born to an aristocratic family on the Side 4 space colony Moore, Io was a wild child who hated the stifling rich life, and instead sought a life of excitement and danger. Those were the words spoken by Io Fleming, the hotshot pilot of the fearsome Full Armor Gundam.
